Academic Approach

Children need space to make their own discoveries. They need a sanctuary, free of adult agendas and scripted activities. Their innate curiosity plays a big part in helping them to make sense of the world around them.

It helps them to build concepts, skills, vocabulary and understanding of the unknown. They need a blank canvas, as it were, and the richness of our thematic approach to learning ensures that our girls encounter fresh, vibrant opportunities daily in which their curiosity is piqued and answers can be found.

Our holistic, integrated approach ensures that all emergent Literacy and Numeracy skills are nurtured and developed both in the classroom and on the playground with a strong emphasis on building language and listening skills. Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are fostered throughout the day as these are central to building confident, resilient and happy children. Every teacher enjoys the support of an Academic Intern as well as the expertise of specialist teachers in the areas of music, movement, dance and drama. These classes provide wonderful opportunities for creative expression and release which ensures a balanced approach to our daily offer. From saving “lost” butterflies to riding the bikes, from science experiments to baking, from music and movement to arts and crafts, from reading and writing to counting and estimating - the discovery of new things abound!

Co-curricular Activities

A wide variety of extra mural activities are also on offer and include Ballet, Pottery, Music Play, Karate and Teddy Tennis. Teachers facilitate interest clubs such as Green Beans, Brain Waves, Finger Fun, Games Galore, Sing-a-long and Funky-Fit throughout the year.

Special days are celebrated throughout the year such as Tea for Two, Drumming-with-Dad, Someone Special Day and Spring Day to mention but a few. Coffee Mornings and Parent Information evenings cover topics of interest and provide opportunities for parents to meet, discuss and share experiences. Regular educational outings, visiting puppeteers, speakers and story tellers all enhance our educational programme.
